Week 1 : Box.net - online file storage

Created an account on Box.net and saved a word document which was quite easy to do.Yes we can use for work purpose by opting to share folders with team . I might use it if i need to save files for personal use instead of carrying memory stick.I would advice customers to use box.net to save documents. We have cases in the library where they use USB and forget to remove when they leave as a result they lose all their work if it gets nicked.I found it useful.

Week 6 : Facebook - playing nicely with others

Yew end of session forgot to put comments.I have used facebook before where i share photos with other family members.It's cool when you have your family far away.Facebook helps to connect and share with family members and friends.For public libraries we can connect and share what is new,what's happening around us ,promote programmes and share heaps of other things ,it's fantastic.

Week 5 : Music files and mp3s

Not a very good music fan but it's good to know some of the free sites we can direct customers to. I logged into amazon.com and had a browse through the site. Surprisingly i found some indian music you can download at a small cost which is fantastic since i listen to indian music.
It paid me going through this exercise it was great.

Week 4 - Books and Social Networking

Goodreads - It gives recent book reviews and how people have rated them.I also went into different genre and found some good books to read.Signed up into Goodreads.It is a good tool to use for readers advisory .I will be using it for my Book Bites Club and sharing it with the members. It's great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Week 3- Twitter

It's great!!!!!to connect with people of similar interest ,get updates of events happening around you.Went into Manukau libraries twitter had a look at Pakuranga libraries new look and left comments.it's easy to use and would recommend customers to access the libraries twitter for reviews and updates.Once you are there you seem to get hooked into it!!!!!!!!!!time factor ooop's better get out.

Week 2 : Zamzar -converting files

I found Zamzar pretty easy to use and simple to explain to customers, if there is a need. Several times we had customers who have saved their document on USB and wants to print and can't open them . We could not assist them then and now through this training we will be able to do so. Well done Tosca!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Week 1 - Create blog account

Oh no again..............Oh well with the growing technology we need to keep ourself updated.
Customers have the expectation that we Librarians should know everthing how computers work , the new programmes eg facebook,twitters...............etc,etc. Thanks Tosca for keeping it short and simple,I hope so.
